HR Reward Consultant - 12 to 15 months fixed term contract

Job Introduction

What the role is:

As a Reward Consultant, you’ll be an in-house subject matter expert for Reward and you’ll provide solutions to business challenges, together with tailored advice in a number of Reward areas ranging from business projects, through to one-off issues and end-to-end processes. You’ll sit within the specialist Reward team, working alongside the Reward Manager and another Reward Consultant.

You’ll play an integral part in the delivery and continuous improvement of the UK Reward annual calendar of activities as well as get involved in some new projects which impact across the Group.

You’ll be required to make decisions and recommendations on what the business can/should do in a specific situations. You will work closely with our Employee Benefits partner to ensure our employees receive a great service on all benefit matters, and you’ll contribute to shaping various Reward initiatives. You will also act as the second line of support to Employees and the HR Service Centre on adhoc Reward queries.

The stuff you'll do

Annual Salary Review

  • Play an active role in the UK Annual Salary Review process end to end. Working closely with a number of different stakeholder groups across the HR community to facilitate the process within tight timescales.
  • Design, build and implement analytical models using people and market data to forecast costs.
  • Manage and manipulate large complex data sets in Excel from a variety of sources.
  • Prepare a variety of PowerPoint slides deck for the Group Exec team to sign off the percentage increases for their business areas.

Benchmarking & Salary Surveys

  • Attend the provider training session to gain full understanding of the job levelling methodology and to get up to date insight in to survey changes for 2018.
  • Take ownership of the annual Salary Survey submission to 3 different providers.
  • Conduct discussion meetings with HR/Business reps to review any new roles or changes in classifications to ensure accuracy of submission.
  • Compile, manipulate & format detailed employee data reports from various sources in to the required Excel template ready for submission.
  • As individual benchmarking requests come up from the business, meet with the relevant HR and/or business rep to align the job criteria to the methodology.
  • Contribute to the overall Governance process of the Group Job Family Matrix utilised across all countries and advice on how any changes to UK jobs impact the alignment to the framework.

Flexible Benefits

  • Contribute to the annual benefits renewal process, working in partnership with our providers to update and communicate the offerings to employees.
  • Play an active role in the organisation of promotional events and activities to increase employee engagement and take up.
  • Liaise with the Employee Benefits provider to resolve any adhoc service level issues for employees, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Plan Comms regarding any benefit changes based on legislation – e.g. Childcare Vouchers

Pension Scheme

  • Support the implementation of various pension plan design changes linked to Auto Enrolment. Working closely with the Reward Manager, Employee Benefits provider to plan, communicate and execute changes.
  • Act as a point of escalation to employee pension queries, resolving where possible or referring them on to the pension provider or Pension Governance Committee as required.

Global Mobility

  • Support the Reward Manager in the execution of all International moves.
  • Contact point for HR, business, assignees and service providers on all queries.
  • Engage with, and liaise with service providers (Tax and Relocation) on current and existing assignee needs.
  • Draft letter of conditions (contracts) for assignments and obtain all quotes for cost projections
  • Process all invoices and cross charges for International Assignment


The Ideal Candidate

What you’ll know:

Technical expertise

  • Proven track record in data analysis and manipulation; confident to analyse information, draw insight and establish recommendations.
  • Experience of managing annual pay and incentive cycles.
  • Experience of job evaluation methodology and applying knowledge to annual salary survey data submissions (Ideally Willis Towers Watson).
  • Experience of supporting Company Benefits programmes, and managing the annual renewal process successfully with 3rd party suppliers.
  • Experience of creating and rolling out promotional comms campaigns for various Reward initiatives.

  • Have an inquisitive mind and be a conceptual thinker. Have strong numerical and problem solving skills, with intermediate knowledge of Excel.

  • Have an eye for detail in terms of written information as well as strong planning and organisational skills to ensure that projects are executed to agreed timescales.

  • Great at building working relationships with external providers, business managers, peers and other HR stakeholders. Confident in communicating with people at all levels, including senior management, and sharing knowledge with HR and the business.


  • Able to adapt positively to changing work priorities and patterns; ensuring key business and HR deadlines continue to be met. Curious about HR/business trends and developments, incorporating them into your work.


  • Able to work on your own initiative, manage priorities and meet deadlines.  Be proactive and anticipate business needs.
